Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Netbook for Longevity

dell inspiron mini 10 netbook

My black Windows 7 Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook is tried and tested for longevity. It’s been with me for more than 3 years now and despite rigid daily usage extending up to 15 hours or more per day; it still works wonders for work and entertainment till now.

  • Intel Atom Z530 / 1.6 GHz CPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 160GB / 5400 RPM hard drive
  • 10.1 inch display
  • IntelGraphics Media Accelerator 500 graphics and accelerator
  • 56 Wh battery

The specifications above are not stellar but works well if you intend to use this netbook for Internet surfing activities including for social networking, online video streaming, email, chat, research, etc. It also works as a work computer for documents and reports in Microsoft applications and others. However, being a netbook, it can’t play audio or video disks like laptops and neither can it support countless app downloads the way tablets do.

Nonetheless, for a freelance writer like me who is literally on the web or infront of a computer for 15 hours on a daily basis researching, writing content on Word doc or directly through platforms online, and taking a break through social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, etc., this handy dandy netbook is something I can’t part with except when I sleep. 😀 And it’s been an able companion for work and play online for the past 3 years and counting.

So if you’re looking for a work notebook that won’t fail longevity tests, I recommend the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook.

5 Technologies that Make me Powerful

When my mother was still alive, she used to call on me and ask for help when it comes to encoding her research notes and performing other computer related stuff.  She was a technologically challenged. She refused adapting to new trends and methods.  Every time she sought my assistance, I always feel that I have greater power over her.  Lucky for me, I have grown to witness and experience technological changes and it bestows me power to deal with my daily life.  Here are 5 technologies that made my life and job run smoothly:

Personal Computer

My first intimate encounter with computers was about a decade ago.  I studied basic computer and I did not finish the course as I find lessons like memorizing the control keys and other important shortcut keys boring.  Then I got employed where all reports are to be encoded in computer and print.  I did overtime daily to learn more about computers.  I was fortunate then that computers were already in graphic user interface mode; thus, it was easy to use and navigate. From then on, I realized that expanding my skills with computers gave me professional reports, presentation, and even won my colleagues attention as they too sought my help.

Cellular Phones

When these were first introduced, they were really expensive and bulky; the battery and charger was bigger than the cell phone itself.  Over the years, cellular phones have become more sophisticated in features and functions.  These hand held gadgets have contributed so much for my job.  I can easily get the information I want in seconds and within my fingertips.  I could solve problems ASAP without going through the rigors of protocol.  More importantly, I was liberated from the tyrannical behaviors of local telephone operators who thought that it was a privilege passing through them.

Net book

I got my very own notebook about a year ago.  I did not own this kind of stuff before as I have more important priorities to spend on. Now, I do not have to use Internet cafes to log online and view electronic files.  I can make reports and communicate while on the plane, boat, or bus. I can even attend to my online article writing job and earn more money.

USB Memory Holder

Thank God for this little object.  I own a 32G USB memory storage device and I can bring all the files I need every time I travel around the country.  I do not need to use online file storage services and keep my files confidential. Together with my net book, I can monitor and update my files and data for my business 24/7.  I do not need to maintain multiple disks; just this single little thing is enough to secure my data into secrecy.

Think about doing two things at the same time.  This technology has allowed me to watch my favorite TV show and at the same time use it as my computer monitor.  With the help of VGA connectors and the remote control, I cannot miss anything on TV and in my computers.

In time, new technologies will be introduced and will give me more power and so I wait for that day!
