Fujitsu to Launch Android Smartphones for Seniors

Smartphone for Seniors

Fujitsu, a famous Japanese manufacturer, is now trying to conquer the European and the US markets – they’re releasing a quad-core smartphone with Android ICS on board (just like the new HTC One X announced at MWC) with a 13MP camera and they’re working on a good tablet that will beat the leading ones on the market. But it seems that the manufacturer doesn’t want to stop there – they have announced their plans to release a redesigned and Android-running version of the famous Raku-Raku phone in the US and Europe.

In case you don’t know, Raku-Raku (meaning something like “Easy-Easy” in Japanese) is a clam shell designed smartphone for seniors – it’s really easy to use and it looks a bit old-fashioned, ideal for those who have problems with getting used to the newest technologies. These phones are very popular in Japan, and the company hopes the US and Europe will love them, too.

The new version of the phone will be more “intelligent” since it’ll run Android (most likely, 2.3 Gingerbread); the user interface will be significantly changed though. The other specs haven’t been announced yet, but we guess the phone will be waterproof, dust proof and shockproof, so nothing will happen to it if  in case the owner accidentally drops it somewhere. We can also guess that it will have at least 8MP camera like the latest Raku-Raku Phone 7 model that was released in Japan last year. We can also guess that the processor of the phone will be rather good too, so as not to irritate the elders with slow performance.

The new Android-based Raku-Raku smartphone for seniors is expected to be released in Japan this summer, and it’ll most likely come to Europe and the US by the end of the year.

What are some good android smartphones that would suit a 15 year old girl? I like touchscreen phones.

  2. These are definitely not for teenage girls. For teenagers, the iPhones are very popular, but I would suggest one of the HTC’s as they have a lot of multimedia apps built in. Other than that, the Android phones are all pretty much the same.
