Yes it is true that both Google and Facebook are running short of hard disk drives and are calling HP (Hewlett-Packard). Well, this is known to everyone that both Google and Facebook build their own servers instead of purchasing it from companies who are specialists in making PC hardware like HCL, HP, and DELL. But in a recent press conference, HP CEO Meg Whitman stated as follows:

“right now, they’re not building their own servers because they can’t get the disk drives. So they’re calling us…Yes, the Googles, the Facebooks are doing some of that, but I will tell you, they’re all calling us right now because they don’t have the ability to get the drives,”

This problem has occurred due to the vicious flooding in Thailand which caused a shortage of Hard Disk drives and thus, Google and Facebook are having storing problems due to the shortage of HDD and thus, they are not able to make more servers for storing data. As these two are the biggest names on web, they cannot afford to crash.

Let us see what happens in future as Google and Facebook have not yet responded on Whitman’s comments.
